Seven Days of Change: Journeys with Transformed Team Towards Improved & Sustainable Performance

by Maisie Wragg

Same programme, seven different experiences over the last two weeks as part of a larger transformational change programme for a successful organisation I have been involved with over the last two years.

This has been an extraordinary journey, with exceptional people and these last seven days are the culmination of an intensive nine month programme, which has resulted in the creation of the new business and delivery model which will take the organisation forward over the next three years.

I have stood and sat in front of the people who will make this happen and helped them make the transition into their new teams premises and management structure.

The week I have spent facilitating and supporting the managers and staff demonstrate how varied the journeys through change can be and how powerful a structured and flexible approach is in supporting these journeys.

The key elements in all the days have had similar foundations in successful approaches to change providing clarity, focus and fit around this role; linking this to a broader vision for the work which is based on values and commitment of the individual members and helping people make the transition to the new service in their own way and for their different starting points.

People respond well to framing this as a story. Stories help us with our individual journeys as well as our collective ones – knowing where we are, where we’ve come from, where we want to get, how we might get there and what we will do next is a great frame for the different stories which have unfolded in front of me in the last seven days.
